National Desk: Until now, it was widely believed that once a person develops diabetes, they have to live with it forever, managing it only through medicines, exercise, or lifestyle changes. But AIIMS New Delhi has completely overturned this belief. The Surgery Department at AIIMS has discovered a permanent cure for uncontrolled Type-2 Diabetes, giving huge relief to diabetic patients. Now, this disease can be completely treated through surgery.
AIIMS’ Successful Breakthrough
Over the past one and a quarter years, the Surgery Department at AIIMS has performed surgeries on 30 patients who were struggling with uncontrolled diabetes despite medications and lifestyle changes. All of these patients are now free from the disease.
Dr. Manjunath, Additional Professor in the Surgery Department, explains that simply keeping blood sugar levels normal with medicines is not the real cure.
The real cure means preventing major diabetes-related complications such as organ failure (kidney, heart, etc.). In India, many patients fail to maintain normal sugar levels even after taking multiple tablets daily — and for such patients, this surgery is extremely important.
