Dadri, Uttar Pradesh – A growing crisis in electricity supply has triggered alarm among the business community in Dadri, a prominent commercial area near Noida. Traders affiliated with the Uttar Pradesh Udyog Vyapar Pratinidhi Mandal have raised concerns over the severely deteriorating power situation, warning that if conditions do not improve, a mass exodus of local businesses is imminent.
According to the association’s Dadri president Manoj Goyal, at least 25 traders have already relocated their businesses to other cities due to the unreliable electricity supply, which currently averages just 3 to 4 hours per day. This crippling shortage, they say, is rendering commercial operations unsustainable.
On Tuesday, during a scheduled stop at Dadri’s CM Plaza en route to Delhi, former MP and state president of the Udyog Vyapar Mandal, Banwari Lal Kanchhal, met with local traders and listened to their grievances. In a memorandum addressed to the state’s Energy Minister, the traders formally appealed for urgent intervention.
The memorandum highlights the threat of a larger exodus, with an estimated 300 to 400 additional traders preparing to leave if electricity services are not promptly restored. The business community fears a severe economic downturn in the area if the issue is left unaddressed.
In response, Mr. Kanchhal assured the traders that he would raise the issue at the highest levels and press for the restoration of at least 18 hours of daily electricity supply to support local commerce.
The situation in Dadri underscores a broader concern about infrastructure gaps impacting small and medium businesses in key regions of Uttar Pradesh. With many traders already seeking more stable conditions elsewhere, the need for swift government action has become increasingly urgent.
