New Delhi: On the opening day of the World Book Fair at Pragati Maidan, the book “Stories and Struggles of Soldiers’ Wives” by renowned author Vandana Yadav, published by Prabhat Prakashan, was formally launched at the Author’s Corner, Hall No. 2.
Speaking at the launch, Pawan Agrawal, Director of Prabhat Prakashan, said,
“This book brings to light the real-life stories of soldiers’ wives—stories that will fill every Indian with pride.”
Author Vandana Yadav shared her perspective on the inspiration behind the book, stating,
“Soldiers do not come from affluent backgrounds. They do not belong to business families or possess enormous wealth. Becoming a soldier is a middle-class choice, where patriotism takes precedence over everything else. I did not have to shape this book consciously—it already existed within me. Just like military training, we too are prepared for this life. I have simply selected those true stories that will surprise civilians—stories they were largely unaware of.”
The book sheds new light on the lives of sacrifice, resilience, and silent strength of military families, especially soldiers’ wives. It aims to create awareness and sensitivity toward their struggles and contributions and is being widely recommended for readers from all walks of life.
