Bengaluru/Varanasi: On Monday, Mahamandaleshwar Swami Ashutoshanand Giri, the head of Kailash Math in Kashi and a renowned scholar of Nyaya-Vedanta philosophy, inaugurated the Bharatiya Sant Mahaparishad in Bengaluru and Kashi. Known for his deep commitment to spreading the teachings of Sanatan Dharma, Swami Ashutoshanand frequently travels across India to deliver religious discourses and participate in spiritual gatherings.
The Bengaluru event was held at the Prestige Centre of Performing Arts in Konanakunte and was attended by a large gathering of saints, spiritual leaders, and scholars from various parts of the country. The focus of the event was on the preservation of Indian culture and the propagation of Sanatan Dharma. Each speaker shared their perspective on how to collectively protect and promote these ancient traditions.
During his address, Mahamandaleshwar Ashutoshanand Giri emphasized,
“The preservation and growth of Indian culture and the tradition of Sanatan Dharma is the responsibility of all of us. To fulfill this duty sincerely, the entire saint community must walk together with unity. Saints speak wisely, but often there is a lack of consistency in their thoughts. We need to eliminate ideological differences so that the foundation of Indian culture becomes even stronger.”
He extended his best wishes to the newly formed Bharatiya Sant Mahaparishad and expressed hope that it would become a guiding force in the cultural renaissance of India. Swami Ashutoshanand also called for the formulation of a solid strategy to spread Sanatan Dharma globally and emphasized taking concrete steps to implement it.
A Journey of Devotion and Scholarship
Swami Ashutoshanand Giri was born in a middle-class family in Vishwaspur, Bihar. From a young age, he was drawn to the path of devotion, saintly service, and yogic practices. His spiritual journey led him to Kashi, where he spent 14 years studying Nyaya Shastra and Vedanta. During his academic journey, he won several gold medals in debate competitions and was once ranked first across India.
After clearing the UGC-NET (JRF), he was appointed as an Assistant Professor at Swami Vivekananda University in Kolkata. However, the call of renunciation was so strong that in March 2014, he embraced the life of a monk at Kailash Math in Kashi. Located in Bhelupur, the Kailash Math is a renowned spiritual center in India, known for the worship of Lord Shiva in his Shivlingam form.
Since then, Swami Ashutoshanand has been traveling across India narrating sacred texts such as Ram Katha, Shrimad Bhagwat Katha, Devi Bhagwat, Shiv Mahapuran, and Gyan Yagya, inspiring people to reconnect with Indian heritage and spirituality.
