Monsoon 2025 Alert: Heavy Rain from Gujarat to Kerala, IMD Issues 24-Hour Warning – Check Weather Update for Delhi, UP, Bihar, and Other States

The Southwest Monsoon 2025 has now gained momentum across the country. Due to its widespread activity, many states are witnessing heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a 24-hour alert for several regions, advising both residents and local administrations to remain cautious.

Monsoon Set to Advance Over Delhi, UP, Haryana & Rajasthan

While the monsoon is yet to become fully active over Delhi-NCR, conditions such as cloud cover, humidity, and monsoon winds are already present. However, widespread rain has not yet occurred in the capital.

Due to the influence of a Western Disturbance, light showers are likely today in Delhi. Between June 27 and 29, especially on June 28, rainfall activity in Delhi is expected to intensify. Good rainfall is anticipated next week as the monsoon further progresses.

24-Hour Rainfall Forecast: Region-wise Update

According to IMD’s latest forecast for the next 24 hours:

  • Light to moderate rain is likely in:
    • Western Uttar Pradesh
    • Western Rajasthan
    • Vidarbha & Marathwada (Maharashtra)
    • North Punjab and North Haryana
    • Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh
    • Eastern Gujarat, Kerala
    • Northeast India, Sikkim, and parts of Andaman & Nicobar Islands
  • Heavy rainfall is expected in some isolated locations within these regions.

Heavy Showers Likely in Western Himalayan Region

  • Moderate to heavy rain is expected over:
    • Jammu & Kashmir
    • Himachal Pradesh
    • Uttarakhand
  • The Konkan & Goa region, along with coastal Karnataka, may also witness moderate to heavy downpours.

Lightning Alert in Odisha, Rain for Bihar & Bengal

  • In the next 24 hours, Telangana and Coastal Andhra Pradesh are also likely to receive light to moderate rainfall.
  • Jharkhand (including Ranchi, Dhanbad, Jamtara) and parts of West Bengal (Burdwan, Hooghly) may witness showers with chances of lightning.
  • In Odisha, districts like Cuttack are under lightning alert due to unstable weather conditions.
  • Bihar (including Patna) is also expected to experience thunderstorms and rain in multiple districts.

Widespread Monsoon Activity Picks Up Across India

The monsoon system is actively moving northward, with its reach expected to expand into Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan in the next 24 hours. Residents across these states should stay informed, especially with the possibility of intense rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning in certain areas.
