Brugger Lili from Austria won the fencing tournament held at Indira Gandhi stadium

New Delhi. First international fencing tournament organised by the Fencing Association of India concluded on Sunday. This two day competition was held from 14-15 September at K.D. Jadhav arena, I.G. stadium, New Delhi. 58 participants from India, Nepal and Austria participated in it and shocased their skills. Fencing Association of India is the official governing body for this sport. This association works towards promoting and developing fencing as a sport across the country. Speaking about this tournament Rajeev Mehta – Secretary General FAI said, ” we are very thrilled with the response of people for this game. Such tournaments can surely boost the popularity of fencing in our country.” This tournament was the part of the International Fencing Federation’s (FIE) global satellite event series. Spectators got the chance to witness exciting matches during this competition. The final match was held between India’s Waikhom Sonia Devi vs Austria’s Brugger Lili in which Austria’s Brugger Lili won the match.
