Delhi AQI Worsens Again, Air Quality Slips into ‘Poor’ Category

National Desk: Air quality in Delhi deteriorated again on Monday, raising health concerns for residents. The Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 216, placing it in the ‘Poor’ category, compared to 189 (Moderate) on Sunday.

According to the ‘SAMIR’ app of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), air quality at around 9 a.m. was recorded as poor at 25 monitoring stations, while 12 stations reported moderate air quality.

As per CPCB standards, an AQI between 0–50 is considered Good, 51–100 Satisfactory, 101–200 Moderate, 201–300 Poor, 301–400 Very Poor, and 401–500 Severe.

Weather Conditions

At Safdarjung, the minimum temperature was recorded at 9.1 degrees Celsius, about one degree above normal. The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 23 degrees Celsius, with generally cloudy skies and the likelihood of haze during the day.

Station-wise data showed that Palam recorded a minimum temperature of 9.8 degrees Celsius, which is normal for this time of the season. Lodhi Road registered 9.4 degrees Celsius (one degree above normal), Ridge recorded 10.8 degrees Celsius (one degree below normal), while Ayanagar saw a lower minimum of 8.8 degrees Celsius, around two degrees below normal.

With pollution levels rising again, authorities have advised people—especially children, the elderly, and those with respiratory issues—to take necessary precautions.
