Echoes of Green at the Constitution Club: Environmental Crusader Y.P. Singh Honored for His Lifelong Commitment

New Delhi, September 5, 2025 – The Kamla Gram Vikas Sansthan turned the spotlight on environmental stewardship during its seminar on “Linguistic Democracy and Indian Educational Traditions” at the Constitution Club of India, where renowned environmentalist and president of the Indian Nurserymen Association (INA), Y.P. Singh, was honored for his tireless efforts in greening the nation.

Singh, widely regarded as a driving force in mobilizing grassroots environmental action, received the recognition in the august presence of Member of Parliament Kalicharan, Padma Bhushan awardee Ram Bahadur Rai, Padma Shri recipient Ashok Bhagat, and Dr. Sanjay Rai of AIIMS New Delhi. The honor acknowledged Singh’s unwavering commitment to protecting the environment and his role in building a movement that has inspired countless communities to embrace greenery as a way of life.

Founded nearly 38 years ago, the Indian Nurserymen Association has long been a trusted body representing the country’s nursery and plantation sector. Since Y.P. Singh assumed leadership in 2018, the INA has expanded its footprint across every Indian state, evolving from a professional collective of nursery owners into what Singh often describes as a “national family.” Today, from small village nurseries to large urban plantation hubs, members of the INA are united by a single mission: safeguarding India’s ecological future.

The event underscored a larger message: true progress cannot be measured in infrastructure or economics alone but must be rooted in strengthening our natural environment. The recognition of Y.P. Singh was thus symbolic not only of one man’s achievements but of the countless unseen hands across the country that work daily with soil and seedlings to secure a greener tomorrow.

On this Teacher’s Day, September 5, the Kamla Gram Vikas Sansthan reminded the nation that our greatest teachers are often the silent cultivators of life—those who plant, nurture, and protect the trees that sustain us all.
