New Delhi: The world’s first compassion-focused educational program – Satyarthi Summer School (SSS) – concluded. Addressing the closing ceremony held at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi, Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarthi said that the most important thing needed to make compassion global is the courage to face injustice. He stated, “The power that arises from feeling others’ pain as your own suffering is what compassion truly is.”
Asmita Satyarthi, CEO of SMGC, said, “It has been encouraging to see so many young people from various countries, universities, and disciplines in the first batch of Satyarthi Summer School. I heard inspiring stories from young changemakers and saw them come together to build a compassionate world.”
This 30-day program ran from June 8 to July 5, 2025, and brought together 25 young participants from 11 countries, including Liberia, Mexico, Tajikistan, Palestine, and the USA, who engaged with a world-class faculty and adopted compassion-based principles to tackle some of the world’s biggest challenges.
During the program, participants visited child-friendly communities – Bal Mitra Mandal and Bal Mitra Gram – in Delhi and Rajasthan. They interacted with child leaders, heard their inspiring stories, took part in rallies, stayed at Bal Ashram, and spent time with children who had been rescued from labor and exploitation. Participants also explored real-world challenges using the Satyarthi Compassion Quotient™ (SCQ) framework.
