Ghaziabad: The prolonged protest outside Wave City—set to emerge as the country’s largest hi-tech city—has finally been brought to an end. This development has brought visible relief to residents as well as employees working within the township. The decisive role of the court and local administration proved crucial in resolving the issue.
The agitation had not only obstructed Wave City’s development works but also caused daily inconvenience for locals. Many working professionals, especially women, reported facing regular difficulties. Residents shared that the protest created a constant sense of insecurity, as anti-social elements often infiltrated such gatherings.
Employees working inside Wave City have also welcomed the move, saying their travel and routine work can now continue smoothly without fear or disruption.
On July 14, 2025, Additional Civil Judge Namitesh Gupta directed the Kavi Nagar SHO to ensure compliance with a 2017 court order that prohibited obstruction of Wave City’s development or any assault on its employees. Despite repeated warnings, protestors defied the directive and continued demonstrations.
The court gave the police until July 31, 2025, to negotiate with protestors and bring the agitation to a close. However, as the sit-in persisted beyond the deadline, police finally intervened and forcibly cleared the protest site.
