Loni (Ghaziabad): A major fire broke out on Wednesday in a three-storey factory building located in Sector B of Tronica City Industrial Area. The blaze erupted in the setback area of the premises, engulfing goods worth several lakhs of rupees. Although fire department personnel managed to control the fire after an hour of intense effort, they could not prevent significant damage to the factory’s inventory. Initial investigations suggest that a short circuit may have been the cause of the fire.
The incident occurred at Print Pack India, a factory owned by Ratanlal Sharma, which specializes in printing and binding books. The factory employs four workers, who were present at the site when the fire broke out. According to Sharma, the fire started in a room located in the front section of the factory early in the morning.
As soon as they noticed the flames, factory workers and nearby residents immediately attempted to douse the fire using available resources. Simultaneously, the fire brigade and local police were informed. Despite the quick response from the local community, the fire rapidly spread due to the flammable materials stored inside, making it impossible to control without professional intervention.
Firefighting teams, led by Fire Officer Gaurav Kumar, reached the spot promptly and began efforts to bring the blaze under control. After nearly an hour of strenuous firefighting, the flames were finally subdued, preventing further escalation. However, by the time the fire was extinguished, a large portion of the factory’s stock and machinery had been reduced to ashes.
Speaking to the media, Fire Officer Gaurav Kumar said that the initial assessment points towards a short circuit as the probable cause of the fire. He further revealed that the factory did not possess a valid No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Fire Department, which is mandatory for industrial units operating in such premises. The absence of proper fire safety measures contributed to the rapid spread of the flames and the extent of the damage.
Authorities have initiated an inquiry into the incident to ascertain the exact cause of the fire and to check whether safety regulations were being followed by the factory management. Preliminary estimates indicate that goods worth several lakhs of rupees were destroyed in the fire, including raw materials, finished goods, and equipment used for printing and binding operations.
The incident has once again raised concerns over the lack of adequate fire safety measures in small and medium-sized industrial units operating in Tronica City and other industrial areas of Ghaziabad. Residents and industrialists have urged the administration to conduct regular inspections and ensure strict enforcement of safety protocols to prevent such incidents in the future.
Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported in the incident, but the financial loss has come as a significant setback to the factory owner. Authorities are also expected to take action against factories operating without necessary fire safety clearances in the area.
