Israel–Iran Tensions: Air India Flight From Delhi To Tel Aviv Diverted To Abu Dhabi

National Desk: Rising tensions between Israel and Iran have significantly impacted international air traffic. Amid the escalating conflict, an Air India flight (AI 139) traveling from Delhi to Tel Aviv on Sunday was diverted mid-route due to security concerns. The decision was taken when the aircraft was reportedly less than an hour away from landing in Israel.

Route Changed After Missile Attack
According to latest reports, a missile fired from Yemen landed close to Tel Aviv airport, prompting authorities to suspend airport operations immediately. At the time of the incident, the Air India Boeing 787 aircraft was flying over Jordanian airspace. Prioritising passenger safety, aviation authorities instructed the flight to divert towards Abu Dhabi.

Aircraft Returning To Delhi
Flight tracking data indicates that the aircraft has now begun its return journey to Delhi. In view of the tense situation, Air India has also cancelled its scheduled return flight from Tel Aviv to Delhi on Sunday. While an official detailed statement from the airline is still awaited, sources confirmed that the move was taken purely as a precautionary measure to ensure passenger safety. Temporary suspension of air traffic around Tel Aviv airport has disrupted several international flight schedules.
