National Desk: On the auspicious occasion of Chhath Puja, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his heartfelt wishes to people across the country, praying for happiness, prosperity, and success for all.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi wrote,
“Heartfelt greetings to all my fellow citizens on the occasion of Chhath Puja’s evening Arghya. This sacred tradition of offering prayers to the setting Sun is truly unique. May the blessings of Lord Surya bring welfare, happiness, prosperity, and success to everyone. Jai Chhathi Maiya!”
Earlier, President Droupadi Murmu also extended her greetings and wished for happiness and prosperity for all citizens.
President Murmu’s Message
In her post on X, President Murmu wrote,
“On the auspicious occasion of the great festival Chhath Puja, I extend my heartfelt greetings to all fellow citizens. This festival is a moment to worship Lord Surya and Chhathi Maiya and to express our gratitude toward Mother Nature. I wish that this festival brings joy and prosperity to everyone’s life and inspires us to protect our environment.”
Priyanka Gandhi’s Wishes
Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also shared her greetings by posting a line from a traditional Chhath song and prayed for peace, happiness, and prosperity for all devotees observing the fast.
In her post on X, she wrote,
“Dukhwa mitayi Chhathi Maiya, rawe aasra hamar… Heartfelt greetings on Chhath Puja, the grand festival of devotion to Lord Surya, worship of Chhathi Maiya, and reverence to nature. On this sacred occasion, I bow to all devotees observing the fast. May Chhathi Maiya bless everyone with peace, happiness, and prosperity. Jai Chhathi Maiya!”
Significance and Rituals of Chhath Puja
The four-day Chhath Mahaparv, dedicated to Lord Surya (the Sun God) and Chhathi Maiya, began on Saturday with the Nahay-Khay ritual, followed by Kharna on Sunday, and Sandhya Arghya (evening offering) on Monday.
The festival will conclude on Tuesday morning with the Usha Arghya (morning offering) to the rising Sun.
This year, Chhath Puja is being celebrated from October 25 to October 28, marking Nahay-Khay on Chaturthi, Kharna on Panchami, Chhath Puja on Shashthi, and the conclusion with Usha Arghya on Saptami.
