Uproar at GTB Hospital After Transfer of Nursing Officers — 173 Officials Reassigned to Burari Hospital

East Delhi: A major administrative stir has erupted at Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital after 173 regular nursing officers were officially transferred to Burari Hospital. Their personnel files are also being sent there. According to the order issued by the Health Department, the move has been made for salary disbursement purposes; however, the nursing officers will continue to work at GTB Hospital until further notice.

The GTB Hospital Nurses’ Association has strongly opposed the decision and has written to the Health Department demanding the immediate withdrawal of the order. The association has also warned that if their demands are not met, they will begin a peaceful protest from Wednesday, which could disrupt healthcare services.

According to the association, GTB Hospital has 1,021 sanctioned posts for nursing officers, of which 399 were vacant but have recently been filled. Additionally, 207 nursing officers are employed on a contractual basis and receive honorarium payments from the Vice-Chairman’s fund.

On October 3, an order was issued transferring the senior regular nursing officers to Burari Hospital. As per the directive, these nursing officers will continue to serve at GTB Hospital on a deputation basis, but their salary files are being processed through Burari Hospital. Later, on October 9, GTB Hospital administration instructed these officers to report to Burari Hospital for joining formalities.

The association argues that this transfer is neither necessary nor practical. They claim it has caused discontent among the nursing staff and may adversely affect patient care at GTB Hospital. Furthermore, the officers would be forced to travel nearly 20 kilometers to Burari for every administrative task, creating additional inconvenience.
