Gaziabad — Residents of Wave City are finally breathing a sigh of relief. After weeks of tension and fear caused by continued protests and sit-ins by unruly elements, the court’s intervention and the administration’s firm action have brought them peace of mind.
Locals said the demonstrations had become a constant source of anxiety. Protesters frequently turned aggressive or intimidating, leaving residents terrified that some untoward incident might occur. But with the authorities cracking the whip and a court order mandating the cleanup, those elements have backed off — and daily life in Wave City has begun to normalize.
One long-time resident remarked, “We used to live under fear. Every passing protest made us anxious about what might happen next. But now, with the protests shut down, we are able to go about our work in peace.”
Wave City, strategically located with excellent connectivity via the Eastern Peripheral Expressway and the New Delhi–Meerut Expressway, has been attracting homebuyers who wish to escape overly congested urban centers. Large numbers of people have bought plots and begun constructing homes to suit their personal tastes.
Originally launched by Wave Group in 2009–10 under the state’s high-tech township policy, the project was envisioned as a tech-integrated community surrounded by expansive green spaces. The master plan, drawn up by a world-class engineering firm, aimed to make Wave City not just a local landmark but one of the country’s premier modern urban developments.
The project did face obstacles. Local farmers, whose lands were involved, mounted protests and legal challenges, which delayed progress. But now, after judicial interventions and renewed administrative push, development seems to have resumed full steam. Demand from buyers is once again rising.
Beyond just convenience and connectivity, many purchasers cite two other major draws of Wave City: a healthy, eco-friendly environment and a secure living atmosphere. The township’s layout is designed to offer state-of-the-art amenities to middle-class residents in one integrated package. As a result, Wave City is gradually emerging as a unique model, not just for Ghaziabad but for the whole country.
