New Delhi: Panic broke out onboard the Vande Bharat Express (Train No. 22416) traveling from New Delhi to Varanasi on Sunday evening after smoke was detected inside Coach C-15. The train was halted on the tracks near Kanpur for about 15 minutes before resuming its journey once the situation was brought under control. The exact cause of the smoke has not yet been determined.
According to a passenger who spoke to the media, thick smoke inside the coach created panic among travelers, leading to chaos as people rushed to leave their seats and move toward the exits.
“The coach was suddenly filled with smoke, and everyone got scared. The train stopped for about 15 minutes, and passengers started panicking and moving out of their seats. However, things calmed down shortly after, and the train resumed its journey,” the passenger said.
Railway officials have confirmed that there were no injuries or fire reported in the incident, and an inquiry has been initiated to determine the source of the smoke.
