Reels and Short Videos Banned in Delhi Schools; Strict Action for Violations

National Desk: The Delhi government has imposed a complete ban on making reels and short videos within school premises. All schools have been directed to ensure that students, teachers, and staff do not create any such content on campus.

The government stated that these activities negatively impact studies, discipline, and the dignity of educational institutions. The directive has been issued through a circular by the Directorate of Education (DoE), which noted that some schools were allowing reels and short videos for entertainment purposes, prompting this strict decision.

What Does the Circular Say?

The Education Department has instructed school principals to strictly prohibit such activities during school hours. The circular emphasizes that anything disrupting academic focus or distracting students must be stopped immediately. Schools have been asked to take firm measures to ensure that both students and teachers remain focused solely on education.

When Is Video Creation Allowed?

The department clarified that videos related to academics, cultural programs, or awareness campaigns may be permitted—but only with prior approval. Such activities must take place under the supervision of teachers. It must also be ensured that these activities do not disrupt learning and that students’ safety and privacy are protected. Any video unrelated to educational or school activities is strictly prohibited on campus.

Strict Action for Violations

Schools have been instructed to inform all students, teachers, and staff about these rules. The government has also warned that strict action will be taken against institutions that fail to comply with the guidelines.
