With this century, Gill achieved a new Indian record for reaching the fastest 8 centuries in ODI cricket in terms of innings played.
Gill completed this feat in only his 51st innings, surpassing Shikhar Dhawan’s earlier record of 8 centuries in 57 innings. To compare, Virat Kohli completed the feat in 68 innings, Gautam Gambhir in 98 innings, and Sachin Tendulkar in 111 innings.
In the game, Bangladesh was put in first to bat and scored 228 runs, with Mohammed Shami making a significant contribution by securing 5 wickets. The Indian team chased the target in 46.3 overs by losing just 4 wickets. Gill scored 101 not out off 129 balls and hit 9 fours and 2 sixes, while KL Rahul added an unbeaten 41 runs.
