Delhi-NCR Residents Alert! Rain with Thunderstorms Likely on February 9 and 10

National Desk: The weather in Delhi-NCR is set to change once again. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a fresh western disturbance is expected to become active, leading to a shift in weather conditions on the night of February 9 and throughout February 10. During this period, rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely across Delhi and surrounding areas.

Severe Cold to Return

Meteorologists say that although the rainfall is expected to be light, cold northwesterly winds following the showers may cause a sharp drop in temperatures. As a result, nights and early mornings are likely to feel much colder. Increased moisture due to rainfall may also lead to light fog during late night and morning hours, potentially affecting visibility.

Pleasant Weather on the Previous Day

Thursday brought some relief to residents of Delhi. Clear skies and bright sunshine helped ease the cold during the day. The minimum temperature was recorded at 10.4°C, while the maximum temperature reached 22.1°C. However, by evening, chilly winds returned, increasing the cold—conditions that are expected to intensify in the coming days.

Advisory for Farmers and the General Public

In view of the expected rainfall, the weather department has issued several advisories:

  • Benefit for Rabi crops: Experts believe light rainfall will be beneficial for rabi crops such as wheat.
  • Health precautions: Due to the sudden increase in cold, children and the elderly are advised to take special care.
  • Travel alert: Reduced visibility due to fog during morning and night hours—drive carefully.

Residents are advised to stay alert and prepared as winter conditions tighten their grip once again.
