New Delhi: In view of the rehearsal for the Beating Retreat ceremony, temporary changes have been made to traffic arrangements across Delhi-NCR. Several key areas in New Delhi, including Vijay Chowk, will remain closed to general traffic for a specified period on January 22. Delhi Traffic Police has advised commuters to use alternative routes.

Vijay Chowk and Raisina Road to Remain Closed

According to Delhi Traffic Police, Vijay Chowk will be completely closed for public traffic from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM on January 22. Raisina Road, from the Krishi Bhawan roundabout towards Vijay Chowk, will also remain restricted during this time.

Restrictions on Other Major Routes

During the rehearsal, all vehicles heading towards Vijay Chowk from Dara Shikoh Road, Krishna Menon Marg, and the Sunahari Masjid roundabouts will not be allowed to proceed.

Entry Ban on Medium and Heavy Goods Vehicles

Delhi and Gurugram police have jointly informed transporters that medium and heavy goods vehicles (MGV and LGV) will not be allowed to enter Delhi and Gurugram from 5:00 PM on January 22 to 1:30 PM on January 23. The same restriction will again be enforced from 5:00 PM on January 25 to 1:30 PM on January 26.

Alternative Routes for Heavy Vehicles

To ensure smooth traffic flow, trucks coming from Jaipur on NH-48 will be diverted towards the KMP Expressway from Panchgaon. Heavy vehicles approaching from the Gurugram side will be redirected via Hero Honda Chowk, Shankar Chowk, Mehrauli Border, Sohna, Pataudi, and Farrukhnagar.

Vehicles Exempted from Restrictions

The advisory clarified that vehicles carrying milk, vegetables, fruits, as well as fire services, ambulances, and airport-bound vehicles will not be restricted. Vehicles travelling to other districts or states may use the KMP Expressway via Panchgaon Chowk.

Commuters are advised to plan their travel in advance and follow traffic police instructions to avoid inconvenience.
