He completed his matriculation in 1948 from Punjab University and pursued further studies at Cambridge University, UK. In 1957, he graduated with first-class honors in Economics and later, in 1962, earned a D.Phil. in Economics from Nuffield College, Oxford. Dr. Singh is survived by his wife, Gursharan Kaur, and their three daughters.
