Heavy Rain in Delhi: City Life Disrupted, When Will Relief Come? Know the 7-Day Forecast

National Desk: The spell of rain in the national capital, Delhi, shows no signs of stopping. Continuous rainfall over the past two days has slowed down the pace of the city. Friday morning also began with heavy showers, plunging the city into early darkness as dark clouds covered the sky. Intermittent rain showers continue across different areas. The weather department has issued a yellow alert for Friday. Today, the maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to hover around 32°C, while the minimum could drop to 23°C.

Heavy Rain Alert Until September 4

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall alert for Delhi for the next seven days. According to the forecast, monsoon activity will remain strong during this period, bringing continuous spells of showers.

Between August 29 and September 4, Delhi is likely to witness consistent rainfall. In particular, August 31, September 1, and September 2 have been marked for extremely heavy rain warnings. During this spell, a noticeable drop in temperature is also expected. Areas like Safdarjung, Palam, Lodhi Road, Aya Nagar, and others are likely to receive thundershowers along with rain.

Waterlogging Adds to Public Woes

Heavy rainfall has led to severe waterlogging in many parts of the city. While the weather has turned cooler, water accumulation on roads has caused major inconveniences for commuters.

Key areas such as Patparganj, Jantar Mantar, Vinod Nagar, AIIMS, Mayur Vihar, and Preet Vihar are badly affected, with several roads turning into temporary ponds. A video from Vinod Nagar shows people trying to push a car stuck in water, while another viral clip shows a man diving into a waterlogged stretch of the highway.
