India’s largest airline, IndiGo, has appointed Alok Singh as its new Chief Strategy Officer (CSO), marking a significant step in strengthening its long-term growth roadmap.
The development comes shortly after the resignation of the airline’s Chief Executive Officer, Pieter Elbers, as the company looks to reinforce its leadership structure during a crucial phase of expansion.
Role and Responsibilities
In his new role, Alok Singh will be responsible for shaping IndiGo’s long-term strategic vision. His mandate includes driving growth, enhancing operational systems, and strengthening the airline’s competitive positioning in the market.
He will also focus on improving customer experience and boosting overall organizational efficiency as IndiGo continues to scale its operations.
Reporting Structure
Under the current management framework, Singh will report to Rahul Bhatia, the Managing Director of IndiGo. Once a new CEO is appointed, he will transition to reporting directly to the incoming chief executive. This interim structure is aimed at ensuring continuity in leadership.
Extensive Aviation Experience
With over three decades of experience in the aviation industry, Alok Singh brings deep expertise across strategy, operations, planning, and commercial functions. He previously served as Managing Director and CEO of Air India Express, where he played a key role in driving the airline’s growth and transformation.
His career also includes senior leadership roles at Air India and Oman Air.
Focus on Global Expansion
Singh’s appointment is aligned with IndiGo’s ambition to accelerate its global expansion plans. The company has tasked him with developing strategies that will make IndiGo a faster-growing, more resilient, and future-ready organization.
Expanding into new markets and optimizing operational efficiency will remain central to his strategic agenda as the airline strengthens its position both domestically and internationally.
