Kanwar Yatra 2025: Mosques and Shrines Covered with Cloth Along Kanwar Route, Police and Administration Deny Issuing Such Orders

Meerut: Ahead of the Kanwar Yatra 2025, several mosques and shrines situated along the Kanwar routes have reportedly been covered with cloth. It is being discussed that during peace committee meetings held before the Yatra, officials from the police and administration may have requested the caretakers of these religious places to do so. However, no official confirmation has been provided by any authority.

District Magistrate Dr. V.K. Singh stated that no such directive was issued from his side. He added that while this may be seen as a positive initiative, it was not officially mandated. The cloth coverings have been observed on shrines and mosques located along Delhi-Dehradun Highway, Kanwar canal track route, Delhi Road, Hapur Road, Garh Road, and nearby areas.

Cloth Installed Around Shrine on Mall Road
Shrines located on Mall Road and Lekha Nagar, along with mosques from Partapur to Modipuram on the Delhi-Dehradun Highway, have been covered. CO Daurala, Prakash Chand Agrawal, clarified that he did not issue any such orders, nor was the topic discussed in any peace committee meeting.

Police and Administration Deny Involvement; City Qazi Also Unaware
The issue of covering mosques and shrines has not been officially acknowledged. City Qazi, Dr. Jainus Salikin, stated that they have not received any instruction from the administration and the exact details can only be confirmed by speaking to the clerics of the respective mosques or shrines.
