National Desk. Security agencies have foiled a major terror plot ahead of Diwali, preventing a possible large-scale attack in the country. In a joint operation, Delhi Police’s Special Cell and central agencies arrested five ISIS-linked terrorists. The crackdown took place after coordinated raids in Delhi, Mumbai, and Jharkhand.
How was the terror module busted?
On September 9, Delhi Police received a secret input, leading to the arrest of Aftab, a resident of Mumbai, from Delhi. During his interrogation, the name of another suspect, Danish, surfaced.
Acting swiftly, Delhi Police, along with Jharkhand ATS and local police, raided a lodge in Ranchi, where Danish was posing as a student. He was arrested, and it was revealed that he was an expert in making explosives. Based on information extracted from Aftab and Danish, three more terrorists were nabbed.
What was recovered from the terrorists?
Security agencies recovered a shocking cache of items indicating preparations for major attacks. The seized materials included weapons, IED-making components, hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, sulfur powder, weighing machines, circuits, motherboards, and diodes.
Preliminary investigation confirmed that the terror module was planning multiple bomb blasts across the country. The five arrested terrorists are now being intensively interrogated to uncover their entire network and details of their planned operations.
