The second edition of the ‘Delhi Osteoporosis Course 2025’ was organized on Sunday at a hotel in Delhi, attracting over 300 orthopedic surgeons from various parts of the country. Dr. Rajiv Jain, Organizer and Governing Director, stated that the program aims to share the latest knowledge on osteoporosis prevention with doctors, including new treatment techniques, medications, and experiences of treating complex cases.
Dr. L Tomar, Organizing Chairman and Orthopedic Surgeon, said, “We have decided to conduct this course every year, as osteoporosis is a significant problem where bone density decreases, making them weak and prone to fractures. Post-menopausal women are also at a higher risk.”
Dr. Tomar added, “Patients with osteoporosis can suffer bone damage from minor injuries. We advise them to ensure their homes are free from obstacles like pots, carpets, and wires that can cause falls.”
Another doctor at the program noted that family history, calcium and vitamin D deficiency, excessive alcohol consumption, smoking, and lack of physical activity contribute to osteoporosis. However, a balanced diet, regular routine, avoiding intoxicants, and proper treatment can help prevent it.
