Good News: Delhi to Gurugram in Just 15 Minutes! Multi-Level Interchange Planned at Key Junction

Desk: A major relief is on the horizon for office-goers and business travelers commuting daily from Delhi, Noida, and Ghaziabad to Gurugram. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has approved the construction of a 150-meter-long strategic underpass near Gurugram to accelerate the development of the ambitious “Global City” project.

The highlight of this project is its direct connectivity with the Dwarka Expressway. Currently, it takes nearly an hour to travel from Delhi or Noida to Gurugram, but once this signal-free corridor is completed, travel time is expected to reduce to just 15–20 minutes. The underpass will not only shorten travel time but also improve vehicle speed in heavily congested areas.

Focus on Decongesting Delhi-Gurugram Border

The central government and NHAI are primarily focused on eliminating severe traffic jams at the Delhi-Gurugram border. As part of the plan:

  • A network of flyovers and interchanges will be developed on busy routes like Mehrauli-Gurugram (MG Road) and Ashram-Badarpur corridor.
  • The most crucial component will be a multi-level interchange at IFFCO Chowk, enabling seamless, signal-free traffic movement from multiple directions.

Officials believe that this upgraded infrastructure will not only save fuel but also help reduce pollution levels—one of the biggest concerns in the NCR region.

Modernizing Gurugram’s Internal Transport

The development plan goes beyond highways. Authorities are also working to modernize Gurugram’s internal transport system:

  • Widening of Gurugram-Pataudi Road
  • Integration of future metro expansion plans
  • Introduction of a network of electric bus services
  • Development of cycle tracks and dedicated green corridors for pedestrians to promote sustainable transport

Boost for Global City Project

The upcoming Global City in Gurugram is being envisioned as a world-class industrial and residential hub. The underpass connecting it directly to the Dwarka Expressway is expected to significantly boost investment opportunities.

Reduced traffic pressure on service lanes will also ease the movement of heavy vehicles and cargo trucks. This master plan has brought relief to thousands of commuters who currently spend hours stuck in traffic at Sirhaul Border and IFFCO Chowk.

Construction work on the underpass is expected to begin on the ground in the coming months.
