Rain Alert in Delhi-NCR: IMD Predicts Heavy Showers and Gusty Winds in the Next 2 Hours

New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh alert for heavy rainfall and strong winds across several parts of Delhi-NCR in the next two hours. According to the forecast, heavy rain is expected in South Delhi areas including Mehrauli, Chhatarpur, IGNOU, Aya Nagar, and Dera Mandi. Parts of NCR such as Faridabad, Manesar, and Ballabhgarh are also likely to experience intense showers.

The weather department has also predicted light rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in various regions of Haryana, including Hisar, Hansi, Tosham, Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri, Mattanhel, Jhajjar, Farrukhnagar, Kosli, Sohna, Rewari, Palwal, Bawal, Nuh, Aurangabad, and Hodal. Similarly, Uttar Pradesh towns like Nandgaon and Barsana are expected to witness light to moderate rainfall.

In Rajasthan, rainfall is likely over Bhiwadi, Tijara, Khairthal, Nagar, Kotputli, and Deeg.

Meanwhile, in East Delhi, areas such as Karawal Nagar, Dilshad Garden, Seemapuri, Shahdara, and Vivek Vihar may see light rain. Parts of NCR including Loni Dehat, Hindon Air Force Station, Ghaziabad, Indirapuram, Chhapraula, Noida, Dadri, and Greater Noida are also expected to receive light showers.

In western Uttar Pradesh, rainfall is forecasted in Siyana, Bulandshahr, Jahangirabad, and Shikarpur during the next two hours.

Earlier on Monday morning, parts of Delhi and surrounding NCR areas were lashed by light to moderate rain accompanied by gusty winds, leading to a significant drop in temperature and improvement in air quality. IMD reported that rainfall had continued overnight in several regions. Delhi’s Safdarjung observatory recorded 14 mm of rain over the past 24 hours till 8:30 AM, while Palam received 16.2 mm and Lodhi Road 17.3 mm.

As per IMD’s three-hour rainfall data, Najafgarh received the highest rainfall with 5.5 mm between 2:30 AM and 5:30 AM Monday, followed by 4.4 mm in Safdarjung. Palam, Pusa, and Narela each recorded 1 mm during the same period.

Due to the showers, Delhi’s maximum temperature dipped significantly. At 8:30 AM, the Safdarjung station reported a minimum temperature of 24°C—nearly 3.9°C below the seasonal average.
