Salman Khan’s Sikandar Defies Critics, Nears ₹100 Crore Mark

Despite mixed reviews and negative feedback from audiences and critics alike, Sikandar is proving Salman Khan’s star appeal remains unimpeachable. The movie has broken expectations and grossed over ₹85 crore in its opening three days and is well on the way to being Salman’s 18th ₹100-crore movie.

In the midst of the success of the film, a viral video from Salman’s interview with Bollywood Bubble has brought back the debate over Bollywood’s selective endorsement. The host highlighted how the industry has remained quiet about Sikandar, even as Salman has always been endorsing movies of his peers. In reply to this, Salman said, “Perhaps they feel I don’t need their endorsement. But everyone does, including me.”

Although Salman might not always get the same support, he keeps supporting his fellow actors. During the interview, he paid tribute to Sunny Deol’s next action-oriented Jaat, which will be released on April 10, 2025. He also gave credit to the Malayalam blockbuster L2: Empuraan, which features Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran and was released just two days prior to Sikandar and is already breaking records.

Interestingly, only one Bollywood actor, Sunny Deol, came out in favor of Sikandar openly by sharing a social media post for the movie. Although Aamir Khan did join Salman and director AR Murugadoss in a promotional video, overall absence of industry-level support has been observed.

Despite this, Sikandar still attracts people, confirming Salman’s box office supremacy and the fact that his movies are a big movie affair, irrespective of industry support.
