Under the PM e-Drive Scheme, a 100% subsidy will be provided for installing public fast chargers.
New Delhi: The government has announced an 80% subsidy on infrastructure required for setting up public fast charging stations for electric vehicles. In some specific cases, this subsidy could go up to 100%. The government will spend ₹10,900 crore on this scheme over the next two years. State governments will determine the nodal agencies responsible for setting up the charging stations.

A total of 72,300 charging stations will be established across the country. These proposed public fast charging stations will include 48,400 for electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers, and 22,100 for four-wheelers. These will cover cars, light commercial vehicles, and ambulances. Additionally, 1,800 chargers will be designated for electric buses and trucks.

The cities selected for this scheme include major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, as well as tier-2 and tier-3 cities like Bhopal, Indore, Raipur, Jaipur, Patna, and Udaipur.
