Abhi Hum Koi Retire Nahi Ho Rahe’ – Rohit Sharma’s Firm Stand on ODI Future

Rohit Sharma has ended speculation regarding his ODI retirement, stating categorically that he has no intention of walking away from the format. In the midst of celebrating India’s Champions Trophy triumph in Dubai with Virat Kohli, Rohit spoke about the rumors directly.

In a viral video, Rohit is heard explaining to Kohli that everyone thinks they are retiring, but that is not the case. “Abhi ham koi retire nahi ho rahe (We aren’t retiring),” he says, leaving Kohli in splits.

Both Kohli and Rohit now have four ICC titles each under their belts and are India’s most successful players in ICC competition. Kohli was a part of India’s 2011 ODI World Cup, 2013 and 2025 Champions Trophy, and 2024 T20 World Cup victory. Rohit, however, triumphed with the 2007 T20 World Cup, 2013 and 2025 Champions Trophy, and 2024 T20 World Cup. Kohli also won with India in 2008 U19 World Cup.

In the decider against New Zealand, Rohit was vital, scoring 76 off 83 balls as India chased down 252. He was given the Player of the Final award for his display.

Looking back at his game, Rohit admitted that his aggressive batting is not natural but a deliberate adjustment. He attributed team management, such as Rahul Dravid and Gautam Gambhir, for the support. “When you do something different, you require backing, and I’ve had that,” he stated.

With no retirement looming, Rohit is still keen on carrying on his influential performances.
