The monsoon has become fully active in North India, intensifying the threat of heavy rain and floods from the plains to the hill states. In Uttarakhand, cloudbursts have caused widespread destruction, while in Himachal Pradesh, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also issued alerts. According to the IMD, Delhi is likely to experience thunderstorms and rainfall today. Several districts in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh are expected to receive heavy to very heavy rain. However, the department has indicated that rainfall intensity may slightly decrease in the coming days.
Rainfall to Continue for the Next Seven Days
The IMD has predicted that rain will persist in the northeastern states over the next week. From August 8, several areas of Arunachal Pradesh may witness heavy to very heavy rainfall. Similarly, parts of central India and Rajasthan are also expected to receive good rainfall in the coming week.
Rivers Overflowing in Bihar
The department has warned that between August 8 and 12, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh will experience heavy to very heavy rainfall. Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh are also likely to see significant rain during this period. In addition, Bihar and Jharkhand are expected to receive heavy rain between August 8 and 10. Several parts of Bihar are already facing flood conditions, with rivers in spate and thousands of people affected.
Districts Under Heavy Rainfall Warning
According to the latest weather report, several districts in Karnataka, including Bengaluru Rural, Tumakuru, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Koppal, Bagalkot, and Belagavi, have been placed under heavy rainfall warnings. Many regions in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh are also grappling with flood situations. In Prayagraj, floodwaters have entered homes, severely disrupting daily life.
