Man Arrested for Staging Alcohol Egg Stunt in Delhi Metro to Go Viral

A 25-year-old man was detained for creating a ruckus on a Delhi Metro train by faking drinking alcohol and eating eggs in an effort to become popular on social media, police said on Wednesday. The man, Aakash Kumar from Shahdara, was arrested by Metro Police after a complaint was filed on April 8 by Amar Dev, Senior Station Manager at Karkardooma Metro Station.

In a viral video, Kumar has been seen drinking from a bottle and consuming a peeled egg while on a Pink Line train bound for Maujpur. After the complaint, the authorities held a coordination meeting with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) staff, CISF personnel, and cleaning parties to identify the man in the video.

Kumar was finally found and arrested in Burari. Under interrogation, he said the incident occurred on March 23 at about 10 p.m. when he was commuting from Welcome to Karkardooma Court Metro station. He confessed that the bottle had only a soft drink and that the stunt was done solely to gain popularity on the internet.

Kumar has been moved to legal action under Section 59 of the Delhi Metro Railway (Operation and Maintenance) Act. Police issued warnings that the actions not only cause disturbance in public order but also abuse the facilities of public transport, assuring that the kind of stunt will not be tolerated.
