New Delhi: The Election Commission announced the dates for the Delhi Legislative Assembly elections on Tuesday. Voting will take place on February 5, 2025, for the 70 Assembly seats in Delhi. The counting of votes will occur on February 8, 2025, determining the next government of Delhi.
The election schedule for Delhi is as follows:
• Election Notification: January 10
• Last date for nominations: January 17
• Scrutiny of nominations: January 18
• Last date for withdrawal of nominations: January 20
• Voting date: February 5
• Counting date: February 8
For voters over the age of 85 and differently-abled voters, home voting facilities will be available. To assist in voting, polling booths will have volunteers, wheelchairs, and ramps.
The Election Commission has also advised political parties to be mindful of the language used in election campaigns. The use of offensive language against women is strictly prohibited.
Chief Election Commissioner Rajeev Kumar mentioned that there are over 13,000 polling booths in Delhi. The total number of voters in Delhi is 1,55,24,858, which includes 85,49,645 male voters and 71,73,952 female voters. Additionally, there are 200,000 first-time voters in Delhi.
