The wait for the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Uttarakhand is over. The UCC will be implemented in the state on January 27 (Monday). A notification regarding its implementation has been issued by Shailesh Bagoli, the Secretary of Home.
In an important step towards the implementation of UCC, the state government has taken another significant move. In a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday, the rules and procedures related to the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code were approved. The cabinet also granted permission to CM Dhami for the enforcement of the UCC. In addition, discussions were held on 10 other topics during this meeting.
Regarding the UCC, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated, “We had promised the people of Uttarakhand in 2022 that once our government is formed, we will bring the UCC bill. We have delivered on that promise. The draft committee prepared the bill, it was passed, and the President approved it, making it an Act. The training process for its implementation is almost complete.
